Is this a reference to Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Proud Mary”, a record I’ve had since March 1969?

So, I’m trying to figure this one out: Is Ben saying he didn’t really resign, just regrouping, and he’s still looking to be back? Or is he encouraging Francis to not consider stepping down, just keep going with renewed spirit?

Benedict quoting a Creedence lyric is as unexpected as Rabbi Marshak quoting Jefferson Airplane in “A Serious Man.”

(I’m not sure if Francis would know CCR either; apparently he has a number of Elvis recordings, but they’re his gospel records.)

Is that from the Apostles’ Creedence or the Nicene Creedence? I keep forgetting the difference…
