When the plays were published has nothing to do with when they were written, espcially in 1616.

I wrote a term paper on this in high school (back in the stone age). I don’t remember what my conclusion was, but getting there gave me me a few headaches.

I also heard Shakespeare could have been John Donne (for whom the bell tolls).

This is the kind of job you get when you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature.

The standard assumption is that it was not Inigo Jones.

For a good case arguing in favor of shakespeare writing his plays read Will in the World by Stephen Greenblatt. For an alternative take that it was the Earl of Oxford Edward de Vere that wrote them watch the movie Anonymous. Both excellent and entertaining works

The question is….do you really think you are going to get a tip after all that?

I have read one theory that it was Queen Elizabeth I who wrote the plays.
