I’ve got the same problem, pretty smooth fingertips. Usually takes me a couple of tries.
There is supposed to be an automated doggy door that recognizes your dog’s nose print so only they can use it and not other animals.
You should use your nose print instead, Tucker; it’s as unique to you as fingerprints are to us humans.

A few of us are not high-tech enough to have or need something like this.
I don’t dare use bio-metrics, I want to be able to use my phone.
