Only nature lovers would enjoy viewing what Betty is trying to show Bub in the book. I didn’t enjoy the outdoors much until I met my husband. We rode bikes, took walks at different parks, fished, owned a canoe, inflatable raft, and a fishing boat and explored different waterways, and enjoyed walking many beaches. It is amazing what someone else can bring into your life.
I once climbed Mt. Bierstadt, a 14,000+ peak that is too close to Denver. I shared a stunning view with 300 other people, who seriously detracted my appreciation that beauty. Nobody should be coaxed to hike.
Some hikes to great views are short and not too difficult. Like Schwabacher Landing for a great view of the Tetons at Grand Teton Park and Grand Prismatic Overlook at Yellowstone
You didn’t enjoy it because it was the first time, but you felt the pleasure you could have once you get into it. You are hooked, my boy, and you will discover that you are enjoying it. Go on, Betty!

That’s a risky gamble, there’s a fair chance he’d answer “yes”.

My girlfriend just did a hike (with buddies) through the Grand Canyon this week. She posted the views. WOW

What it doesn’t tell you is that to get to that Vista you have to wade through a swamp filled with snakes leeches and mosquitoes.
