[Fred, I learned so many new Words and phrases here with you. Now, that half of your sentence is already German, I like to teach you another German word: you say “Mein Doppelgänger”- that would sound exactly like “mine” and means “my doppelgänger”. Easy, isn’t it? :-) ]
I wondered for a couple of years during college whether I had a doppelganger. A city bus driver asked me every time I got on the bus if I had graduated from a certain local high school. I replied truthfully that I had never even been inside that high school, and had graduated from the small rural high school out of town. He always looked like he thought I was joking or lying for some reason. I didn’t have any particularly noticeable look – average height, somewhat thin gal with long brown hair – like thousands of others around town! The time finally came when I never saw him anymore, or he never asked me again, not sure which after all these years. It was kind of creepy at the time. And I never saw anybody that I thought resembled me around town either!

Then you can literally, sort of, meet yourself coming and going. He might look exactly like you, but I bet he doesn’t have your exact joie de vivre.

Stunt double. For those days when crossing the brook seems an impossible feat.

Who said, “Having a twin is running into a mirror in the hall because you think your sister will get out of the way!”

Fred, tell your doppelganger to go in and meet the Dears without you. See how long it takes them to realize something is amiss.
