You know, I’m thinking a microwave oven, Mr. Coffee or some nice silverware would still be appreciated for those few hours of downtime between adventures.
If I were a potential burlar, I’d mark down their house as belonging to people who are out of town a lot. Oh, put full-house security system on the Registry. (Those re-sell very easily.)
If the theme is “Practical, practical, practical!” then forget about their list and just get them something that really IS practical — like sheets or towels. I’m assuming that when they’re not diving, kayaking, biking, camping, climbing, sailing, hiking, surfing, snowboarding, windgliding, whitewater canoeing, or playing volleyball, etc., they’re going to be at home doing normal, everyday things — like sleeping on a real bed and taking decent showers — so why not get them something like that that they can actually use?!? ¯\(ツ)/¯
Or, get them something for the house that’s personalized with their names on it. I LOVE that kind of stuff myself! I’m sure that anything sports/outdoor-related would be a really big hit with them. Just because they have a gift registry doesn’t mean you have to buy something off it ….. especially since everything on it are real budget-busters for people who don’t have a lot of disposable income for super-expensive gifts like that. It’s the thought that counts (or, it’s supposed to be, anyhow) so get them whatever you can afford that you think they’d like. That’s what I always do.

Well, so much for keeping things simple—and affordable. How wedding gifts change over time …
HI, MOM. Nice to see your post today! It’s been a while. :)
