Our Tivo remote has the words worn off most of the buttons. I have pushed the wrong button and the TV goes nuts and I have NO idea what I did. I have to Google what the remote looks like to see how to undo what I did. Comcast isnāt great, but they were happy to swap out remotes when that happens. I know, first world problemsā¦
I had a remote for my Surround-Sound Capable Receiver which suddenly stopped responding to over half of the button-presses. I actually bought a replacement online and had been using it for a number of months when it started doing the same thing. I almost ordered another replacement, but after reading through the downloaded PDF manual for the Receiver, I discovered that I had hit a button that put things into a different āModeā. Yes, the original remote was absolutely fine, just in the wrong modeā¦
Heās got a pointā¦ and what really irks me is when the remote MUST be used because there are no controls on the device (TV, Receiver, etc. etc.) that will perform the function.
When I recently changed my wireless plan with my carrier they supplied me with the simplest remote Iāve had in a long time. It does everything the others did with just a few buttons. Finally someoneās listening to the consumer!
If we had only known, we would have been much more appreciative back in the days when all we had to do was get up, walk across the room, and turn one knob to change the channel.

My garage door remote HATES me. It never closes when I hit the button. It works for my husband, though.

Some garage door remotes have buttons to control the lights, and to lock the garage door.
