I almost never buy a lottery ticket, but the first time that there was a predicted billion dollar payout, some years ago, I bought one, just to participate in the moment. I would have panicked if I had actually won, but I knew exactly how unlikely that was. And I didn’t.
As I said, I bought a ticket. The clerk looked at me oddly and said, “just one?”
The odds- to- payout ratio in the lottery is abysmal. Thousands of tickets may get you $100. The only time it was worth it was when there was a mathematical glitch in the lottery as seen in the movie “Jerry and Marge Go Large” starring Bryan Cranston.

If they gave you 4, you don’t own them until you have leveraged it into 20 lost.

Yeah, but after taxes, you only get 2 billion. Hardly makes it worth playing at that point.

Make the government very happy when you pay the taxes.
