I’m decades past menopause, yet never experienced the hot flashes or night sweats I was told to expect. I guess I’m one of the lucky few. Even when I was young, I never experienced the mood swings or the cramps that had most girls reaching for the Midol.
I was looking forward to hot flashes, but due to some surgery I never had any. I tend to run very cold, even in warmer temperatures. RIght now, my home is at 73F, and I am wrapped up in a heavy blanket and not feeling very warm at all. My gas fireplace used to help, but it died. I probably wore it out. That will get replaced once I win or lose the fight with the condo people over the specific railing, I need outside to get down the stairs safely. So far, no response to my email to them. I suspect they are trying to wait until the ground is frozen in a few weeks so they can use that for an excuse. Actually, I will probably search for a new fireplace insert once the holidays are over. I don’t like crowds.
One of the very few who can tolerate being around others (yes, even loved ones) when experiencing it, I guess. (This is from what I’ve been told—I was lucky enough to miss the pain of hot flashes)
I sweat a lot so they weren’t close to me. Had to stop wearing turtlenecks. My ears would turn bright red and sweat would pop out on my forehead and back of my neck.

Except when you insist on opening the bedroom window in the dead of winter.

Real women don’t have hot flashes. They have power surges.
