That’s a good idea. I wonder how you go about applying for a job at the employment office. I mean is there a test? Maybe a class? What are the certifications required?

Many complaining about bloated government agencies fail to realize they are looking at a jobs program and sometimes a rehabilitation program.

I’m one of the lucky? crazy? idiots? here. My wife turned 80 this year and is still working at one of the best jobs she ever had (office manager/accountant) for a family office ($$$$). I spent 34 years in the motor carrier industry, was a recognized leader in my field, retired at 57, and did consulting for 8 years, and am currently “semi” retired. I say “semi” tongue-in-cheek because a local company was looking for a part time truck driver 15 years ago and some friends a local leasing company suggested me. So, here I am at 76 pushing an 18 wheeler down the road 2-3 days a week. I like the folks I’m working with (not for) and everyone’s happy to see me. Our spare time is taken up with volunteer work (we have no children by fate, not choice). We don’t “have” to work since we have 7 figures in assets but it’s keeping us active mentally and physically. What’s really funny is that my wife has a degree in music (violin & piano). I have an engineering and management degrees from Purdue. I guess what I really want to get across is go with what you know, and if you don’t know, get an education and see where it leads you.
