I’ve always been slightly numeric dyslexic; I tell people I was born in ’45, and people tell me “You look good for your age”, when I correct myself and say I meant ’54 “In that cases you look like…”

If I were ever to lie about my age, and I never have, I would add years, not subtract them. I would prefer to have people think I look good for my age, not much older than what I have told them. It’s just a number anyway.

So that explain why, when I do surveys, they ask me my age then they ask what year I was born,

Vanity is a funny (and foolish) thing. Is it really so much better to claim that you’re 78 when you’re actually 85? Who are you out to impress?

I always said that if ever I were going to lie about my age, I’d say I was older than I actually was. That way folks would say, “Gee, you look great for your age!” instead of, “Gosh, you look awful!
