Point out there are a Lot of teens to divvy that money among- and more teens every day. She Could consider trying to find a job, of course- but I doubt the thought will even cross her mind.
According to OJJDP, there are just under 21 million teenagers 13-17 years old in the US. Eighteen and nineteen year olds also count as teenagers, but I haven’t been able to find how many there are. Since there are about 4 million for each year, there are probably about 29 million American teenagers in all. That comes to about $1100 each per year, or $21 per week. That’s 4 times what I got when I was a teenager in the ’70s.
We were never given an allowance, my parents didn’t believe in that arrangement. They housed us, fed us, clothed us & made sure we got to school & our sports, etc. And they occasionally indulged us when we wanted something extra (non exorbitant). We had daily chores as well which we did without grumbling.
