This was a huge problem at the store I worked at. I would go to help a customer and the terminal would be frozen because there were 8-15 of the same tabs open. No one would ever admit to doing it though, so I just chalked it up to gremlins.

You need to upgrade your system from 32 bit to 64 bit. 32 bit only allows 4,294,967,296 while 64 bit gives 18,446,744,073,709,551,616.
