Finally (knock on wood), global warming is kicking in and this winter has been fairly good. Almost 4" of RAIN which could have been 3’ of SNOW!! Not a snow lover by any means. My mailbox has stayed up so far as the plow drivers grit their teeth not being able to destroy it. But I grit my teeth every time a weather person gripes that we aren’t buried under the snow!!!
I don’t get the thousand dollar winter jacket thing. Unless you’re an Antartic researcher I’m gonna guess people who buy those mostly want to flash the label. I walk 7km every evening in sometimes -35 real degrees and my $50 Costco jacket does me just fine. It’s all about layers. Ok I got those fancy heated gloves, but…
I’m from Northern Arizona. In December 2021, my daughter and I went to a Packers Sunday night game in Greenbay. We had thermal undies, layers upon layers, boots and heavy coats. When we got to Lambeau, it was overcast and 32 degrees. By the time we got out, 1 o’clock Monday morning, it was 30 degrees! Oh well….
I heard on NPR that it’s too warm in New England for … well, now I forget. I just had it on so I wouldn’t miss the next show. But the man said whatever he does for a living requires the soil to be frozen in the winter.

Seems the what I want always wins over the what I actually need.

I broke down and bought an electric snow blower this year, haven’t used it yet but I don’t feel neglected.

And this is the strip that taught me “There is no bad weather, only inappropriate clothing”!

Not so much doing battle with nature but living in cooperation with it. Sometimes the wiser solution might be to get out of its way.

Thanks for making people in pleasant climates Google “Alberta Clipper,” Jef.

I would be ecstatic if the Alberta Clipper missed me every year. With or with out a new jacket.
