One time I was informed my flight was overbooked and I would have to catch the next on.

“That’s fine. I always figure if I miss a flight, it might be the one to crash.”

“He can have my seat.”

“Mine too. No way I’m getting on THAT one now.”

It turned out there was plenty of room after all.
