I remember when I first started climbing hills, I was struggling a little with one stretch when I was passed by an elderly woman. I thought “she’s probably been climbing mountains in the old country since she was a girl, of course this is easy for her”.

Colorado has 54 mountains over 14,000’ altitude and “collecting” them has been a popular mountaineering past time for many years. Most of those 14ers are remote from any big city, but Mt Bierstadt and Mt Evans are just outside of Denver. This toon is (unfortunately) an accurate portrayal of the summit of Bierstadt on a summer weekend.
