Nor cats, nor friends who text several times a day nor⊠My best, most productive âworking at homeâ time is when everyone is asleep. There are no distractions and only soft music.
Let me get this straight. First you complain that you want to work rather than stay at home; then you complain until bosses give you time off (paid!) for maternity leave. . Then you scream and yell about not enough day care possibilities. Then it is the BOSSâS fault when he asks you to work at home (as it is cheaper since all his costs to help YOU have babies is costing him more and more⊠so he tries to get rid of the need for expensive office space. HE didnât force you to have four kids â or any kids for that matter! Why do you think that YOU should âhave it allâ while everyone else is paying for your decisions? Sheesh!
I like the office because there are labs and assembly lines to work at, I walk up & down stairs and am physically active several times a day. I also like my coworkers. But I hate the commute. I currently have one telecommute day per week (more if the weather is bad). My employer is very flexible.
The thing I found when the work at home started a couple years ago was how the traffic on all streets and especially at malls and grocery stores increased during what should be slow times, or where are all these cars and people coming from when I normally shop at 10am (retired)?
Itâs only a cartoon, but in any universe, you need to work out the details if youâre going to work from home (whether itâs your idea or not).My wife and I have been working from home for nearly three years. Itâs easier on us because weâre empty nesters. I teach a class over Zoom, and occasionally, my studentsâ kids or pets photo bomb our sessions. I donât mind; it makes for a pleasant diversion. But they do have to arrange their lives so theyâre able to focus on the class.

More power to you if it works for you, but I find working at home too much like sleeping at work.
