People eat vegan food all the time, such as pasta with marinara sauce or minestrone.

If vegan food is so good for you, why has every vegan I’ve ever known been sick all the time?

And don’t tell me that I probably know many healthy vegans of whose veganarity I am unaware, because no vegan can go 2 minutes without mentioning that they’re (sniffle) a vegan, how long (sniffle) they’ve been (sniffle) a vegan, and (sniffle) how much (sniffle, cough, sniffle) much better they feel all the (sniffle) time since they (sniffle) made the plunge.

Look at human dentition; we have molars for grinding, incisors for cutting, and canines for rending flesh. Humans evolved as omnivores, and require an omnivorous diet for health. One can get (just) with a vegetarian diet, if one studies nutrition carefully and make the proper substitutions, but going vegan just deprives one of too many of the essential nutrients that are found in a natural diet.

My garden vegetables grow with the help of composed cow manure and/or bone meal. So are they vegan?

The food kitchen I volunteer at does a lot of food education. One of the owners is a cook (they used to own a very good restaurant) and she makes sample meals out of the food we’re distributing so our clients can try it. The meals aren’t always vegan, but they are new foods that the clients, who are mostly from other countries, haven’t tried.
