I once read about some research that showed that eating moderate amounts of chocolate was actually good for your teeth. It was paid for by Mars Inc. (makers of Mars Bars, Snickers, M&M, and more), but I’m sure that they had no influence on the outcome.
Actually, it’s abrsive sweets like Certs and chewable vitamins that cause cavities because they grind the sugar right into the enamel. So stay away from sweets that have an abrasive texture!
Actually, the acid in soft drinks and sweet-tart candies dissolves the enamel of your teeth and the sugar feeds the bacteria that causes tooth decay. So stop eating/drinking sugar+acid products to protect your and your kids’ teeth.
When I was in college, a dentist told me I had 5 cavities. I didn’t have the money at the time. 44 years later, I’ve never had those cavities filled because I had no cavities. I had a check-up two weeks ago and no cavities. Believe it or not, dentist can lie.
