However, an experienced sports (or talent) agent will probably get a better deal for a client than the inexperienced client will do for themselves, though it comes with a hefty service charge.
I remember when NFL running back Ricky Williams hired someone named Leland Hardy from hip-hop mogul Master P’s No Limit Sports as his agent. Hardy negotiated a huge contract for Ricky – unfortunately, the contract was loaded with incentives Ricky had to reach before getting the max money. He never reached most of those unreasonably high goals, and never made nearly as much money as he would have if he had a real, experienced sports agent who could negotiate more guaranteed money.
