I was diagnosed with hyperuricemia or “gout” around 2009, and prescribed allopurinol. I take one 300 mg pill every morning, and have not had an outbreak since.

Poet John Milton dies of gout. And some people die from an overdoes of narcotics used to ease the pain.

Drink more water and less beer. Lose a bit of weight and shift you diet away from red meat. You don’t have to be so drastic, just try adding a salad to your everyday menu. And some cherry juice.

“How does that make you feel?” Um, seriously, Joe?

BTW, cool psychiatric connection here: lithium was originally being researched as a cure for gout (worked, too), then the researcher, taking it himself, found how calm it made him feel. Grew to be prescribed as a mood regulator for bipolar disorder.

Yes there is a pill. my husband has gout and most of his family members and there are a lot of foods, meat and vegetables that can trigger gout. He had lost a lot of work because of it until he started taking the pill the downfall is, having to monitor his kidneys
