They should have called it fair pole. If it hits the foul pole – it’s fair. Yet if a hit ball crosses over 1st or 3rd base bag and then lands in foul ground – it’s still a fair ball. Yet if a fly ball is hit to the outfield in fair ground but wind blows it into stands in right or left field outside of foul pole – it’s foul.
As a soccer coach of many years, I had my share of complaints from dads who thought their young Pele’s were being sidelined. But, I think Brutus has waited long enough before talking to Wilbur’s coach. Being sidelined is one thing, being abused is another. This coach has gone way over the line of what coaching is all about.
Actually, he now gets to chase foul balls. He might even get a chance to catch a few errant hits. That’s at least a step up from being a bench warmer……

At least he didn’t call you a foul ball.

It could have been worse. The coach could have made him First Base.

What’s the foul pole for?

I suppose it could be worse. Wilberforce could be third base, not on, but be third base rather than the foul pole…

The Thornapples are Polish?

I hope they at least give him a helmet. The foul pole is way too close to the plate to be a standing place for a human.

What would the ump call if the foul pole got knocked down by a foul ball?

Brutus, you didn’t tell me that your son is Polish…

Brutus, don’t Judge Aaron just because he’s a right fielder…

Sounds like the coach has made Wilberforce a silent umpire.

wilber should be glad to be an essential part of the game – they couldn’t play without the foul poles…
