I just fire off a few rounds if I hear them getting too close to the house, alway’s have my gun on me when I’m on my property so not really worried about the Coyotes. More concerned about the poisonous snakes (Timber Rattlesnake, Copperheads, and Cottonmouth) and the Brown Recluse spiders.
I’ve seen numerous wild creatures here in the city during my early morning cycle commute over the years. Mostly raccoons and opossums, as well as one skunk. There have been a number of times that I have seen coyotes and one wolf. There were two coyotes one morning (3am), one on each side of the intersection, that just watched me roll by. Didn’t budge, but also didn’t give chase either. The wolf, I saw what looked somewhat like a large dog lumbering across the road about a block ahead. I realised it wasn’t a dog when I got closer. Clearly a wolf. It kept nervously eyeing me over its shoulder as this thing with a light shining on it came rolling closer. After I passed it, I had circled back and it then picked up its pace and retreated away. Not as fearless without its pack, I guess.
Actually, I like seeing the coyotes go through my yard. I would never feed them of course but they are fun to see and they keep down the rodents that are in the neighborhood….
A few years ago my friend’s dog heard a coyote and gave chase before my friend could stop her. All she heard was a yipe! Poor little Maggie :(( I cried for weeks.
I live near a pretty large and wooded park. A couple of times while walking my dog near or in the park a coyote has came out of the wood and turned around and ran back into the woods when it saw us. Also, my dog has pretty much dragged me in the opposite direction.

I feel for the coyotes. We’ve intruded on their habitat, and are trying to hunt them to extinction because they learned to adapt.

Coyotes are a by product of people. We unintentionally lure them in with easy food.

Yeah, you don’t have to hunt for your food or get shot at.

Inside every dog is a wolf, wondering what the heck happened.
