So, this series ended in 1911. Yet, here we are still reading it – now that is staying power showing the quality of the work! Plus, I have the collected works of McCay to pass on to my family.
Still, a bit of a let-down—but comic strips do not have over-arching beginnings, middles, climaxes and endings—over the whole of the run. So one should not mind too much. The glory is in the little, compact episodes of the saga-like story.
Not too much science checking here – he refers to Saturn as a sun! Oh, pooh, I will miss this. I may just have to start over until we get the next series – hopefully soon!
FYI, this was the final installment in the city tour. McCay continued the strip until 1914 but with a different story line, one might say a crazier story line. The same characters stayed and things got nuts. If you can find one of the collections it is really something. Brilliant and stands the test of time.

I wonder if he called Saturn a great star as in a brilliant example among it’s peers?
