Some zoos are truly prisons for the animals. Better zoos are well-funded and both try to give the animals large, well-fitted areas and actively seek out animals who are from endangered areas or injured. Many zoos try to breed scarce animals and let many of them go back into their original environment. The zoo nearest me does a good job of caring will for its animals as well as generating appreciation for the animals.
