never had any in our yard in Fla, but our next door neighbor had them all the time, they would burrow under her bushes, she’d get rid of one and there would be 2 more, was surprised they never tunneled into our yard, but that was fine by me
Good for Broomie!. When I was a mere lad, we lived briefly in Texas, where I saw many a dead armadillo squashed on the road, but never a live one as best I can recall. (P.S. I hadn’t known that Broomie speaks Armadillo, but I would venture to guess that over the span of 1500+ years she has probably picked up at least a smattering of many different tongues….)

I’ve lived in Oklahoma most of my life and have never seen a live armadillo. Many dead ones, though.

I had a friend that used to work for the Texas tourism system years ago.
He would see dead armadillos on the side of the road and prop them up against a sign post with a long neck Lone Star bottle between their legs.
