That always stumped me. Wood you believe it? Should I take a bough?

As a “Chuck,” I fully understand the woodchuck’s frustration.

If it’s not one thing, it’s another — if it’s not a falling cow, it’s chucked wood.

For those who wondered wood chuck, what they are called in the west U.S., are called ground hogs in the East.

Apparently, Mr Woodchuck is somewhat upset by the ditty.

Reminds me of the GEICO commercial with the woodchucks chucking wood.

According to the Wikipedia article on groundhogs (aka woodchucks): “The etymology of the name woodchuck is unrelated to wood or chucking. It stems from an Algonquian (possibly Narragansett) name for the animal, wuchak.”

I might be wrong, RJ, but isn’t this usually given as, “How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck would chuck wood?”

I was driving down the interstate, and saw a truck carrying logs. Which made me wonder:

Our groundhog (wood chuck) doesn’t carry any wood but she did just have 2 cute babies. She was living under my shed but seems to have moved across the street.
