Before retirement, all our vacations were taken in a wilderness area where cell service was non-existent and nearly impossible anyway. My employer never got my cell phone number. I had a life, and my profession was only a part of it—and kept apart.
We first had company supplied pagers – then cell phones – learned to really hate cell phones or leashes as we thought of them. We were expected to be on call 24/7/365 to support the customer… Glad I’m retired now and actually use a cell phone for something other than work…
