So all that stuff about detecting magnetic declination, skylight polarization and such is passe, like LORAN. But what will the migrating birds do when the WWW goes down in the next Carrington Event? Do they still practice compass, sextant and mapreading as backup? Are there avian preppers practicing survivalist skills in hidden glades? Do the Illuminati know about all this?
There’s actually an online app for calculating straight-line distances between two points on the map (or several straight lines joined together). I was actually disappointed that the website’s name has nothing to do with crows.

Took my GPS on a commercial flight. It was fascinating to watch the icon moving over 300 mph, ignoring all of the roads.
