Live and learn. Cats have away of telling you things if you pay attention.

I have one cat who loves them and one who definitely does not

I have had some cats that liked to be patted firmly on the back. Some cats are pat-a-cats and some aren’t. Be sure you check first. Otherwise, you’ll be counting your fingers.

If it was mine he be gone to the pound

The cat must have been a leopard.

My experience with cats has been some like belly rubs, some like neck scritches but the same cat rarely likes both and it’s dangerous (see above) to get it wrong.

It sure took long enough to learn that lesson.

My cat lets my husband rub the cat’s belly, but she won’t let me. I guess feeding her and doing clean up is my job:(

A cat rolling on its back to show you its belly is sometimes inviting you to wrestle*. It’s not a trick — they really want to wrestle, not get a belly rub.

*Cat wresting involves claws. But it’s for fun, not for real
