A really imaginative boss would continue his dire prediction to cosmic proportions:

“… and if I give you a raise, you might afford sending your son to MIT, where he’ll study physics … and develop advanced fusion bombs that make nano black holes that devour the Earth and disrupt the orbits of the gas planets … that then fall into the Sun, causing it to go nova … making a chain reaction of supernovae that spin the Milky Way to crash into Andromeda …”

The poor lady would thus be so distraught she would beg the boss to give her a cut in pay!

Ooooohhh…the logic!

So, I’ll just put that money in my own pocket. For the sake of the company.

It all makes nonsense!

Give her a raise, or she might just be the one who bankrupts your company!

“umm…okay…I guess…that…makes…sense……??”
