Irving: I used to wear a "36", and now a "34" is baggy! HAH! What do you call that?! Cathy: "Psychotactic". Irving: What? Cathy: A tactic used to psych shoppers into thinking they're thinner than they are. They put smaller sizes on bigger clothes to make you feel better about buying them. Irving: You mean when the tag says you're a size smaller, you could have GAINED weight?! Cathy: No! I mean YOU could have gained weight! When the tag says I'm a size smaller, I'm a size smaller!

That’s right. And my kids are getting older, but I’m staying young.

if the tag says 34 and it’s baggier than my old 36 I stop shopping at that store and never buy that brand of pants. This is why they can’t get away with this stuff in men’s clothing.

I wonder if they call that sort of deception “ego” labelling. Is that anything like your spouse resetting the scale to make you think you lost weight?

Has this happened to shoe sizes as well?
