How is it that Cathy always owes so much in taxes? Doesn’t she have ANYTHING withheld from her paycheck, or does she just have too LITTLE withheld?
The only time I’ve ever owed any taxes was from years when not enough was being withheld from my paycheck. Correcting the amount of exemptions that I claimed fixed that problem once and for all.
Her vow to quit spending and live more frugally also won’t make a bit of difference in how much she owes in taxes – unless she decides to save money – and then she’ll pay more. I know – it happens to me every year.

Just let her go with her original pledge! Why encourage her to continue with her bad habits? Oh yeah, that’s the American way.

Cathy was supposed to be good at her job. Sometimes those unexpected bonuses can pop you up to a higher bracket

This is exactly why I opt for the maximum withholding. Learn to live on the minimum, then get a refund in January instead of a bill.

Well, her vow to quit spending and live more frugally sure didn’t last long!
