Hey, these folks don’t live across the street. It’s many light years away, and that’s at a speed which is probably not obtainable. So if they even want to come here, it will take awhile.
Hey, the computing power for both Voyager probes only seems unimpressive now because computing has continued to advanced since their launch, but at the time, their computers were pretty impressive for the late 70s, and the fact they continue to function even now, decades later, despite traveling in a medium that’s not exactly known for being friendly to computers, and are currently expected to continue until the probes finally run out of power, is still worth noting. I think that still could earn us a few bonus points with any observing aliens, not because we’re on the same tech level as them, but because it demonstrates we’re inventive enough to achieve such a feat despite the primitive tech, as well as showing we have the potential to still catch up eventually.
