My running group did a virtual Boston Marathon for a friend who qualified and then died before he was able to run it. Most of us were pretty casual older runners who weren’t up for a marathon so we did it over a week, we had an online map of the course which tracked everyone’s progress, and got medals made. And a link for a fundraiser for his widow as well. It ended up being a nice tribute.
I hope the Mr. Spaetzle’s enthusiasm doesn’t dry up any time soon. He will be in much better condition if he completes the tour and continues to exercise. That will make him a much stronger principal. But, according to lore, most ‘rejuvenation plans’ tend to die out after a few weeks or even sooner, the New Year’s fade being most familiar. Be interesting to see how this arc trends in coming days.
I was amazed to smell flowers, quite strongly in some neighborhoods, while biking through the streets of southern Brooklyn recently. My wife believes they were hyacinths.

I wonder if Frazz and Miss Plainwell have visited Yosemite. He took her on a date to Joshua Tree, I remember.

Maybe he should consider Everesting. It has more challenge, less committment.

It’d be cool to take a few days and hike the Seneca Wine Trail (no DD needed). You’d need a tent though.

Ah, yes, that’s our “old school” version of virtual reality — it’s called IMAGINATION.
