"Wedding invitation to the wedding of an ex-boyfriend who once proposed to you". Dad: Impressive. Mom: Men read the mail. Mothers read the mascara.

Who would be classless enough to invite his ex-fiancée to his wedding?

That’s as weird as reading tea leaves. Trouble is, Cathy’s mom was obviously right. Cathy’s Bizzaro World.
Morning Susan not yet arrived. Morning lightenup I’ll come by later with a desser to make the grumpies go away. Afternoon Bronzepony and AnonaMona.
Hi Mom! :-DLMB went out at 7:00 and then came back in, zoomed up the stairs, and waited for me. We got 2 more hours of sleep this rainy morning. Life is good!

Good morning everyone. Hi. I’m Rachel from N. California. I have been a lurker for a little while now. lol And have decided this is the nicest group. I don’t comment everyday, but like to when the thought strikes. Just wanted to introduce myself since I kind of know you all now. lol Have been a Cathy nut for years. She’s my alltime fav. And I can read my daughter by the tone of her voice. Have a great day!

It’s like reading Rorschach ink blots or Braille dots that only a mom can interpret…Hello to the crowd so far (how cool)! Good morning, legaleagle, Aaron and Susan!Hi to the newcomers and lurkers, ncalifgirl58, Molly mcgee and BJIllistrated! So glad you’re coming out of “hiding” to join us! Always, always love hearing from everyone! And thanks Aaron for a dessert for my grumpies. :-) They’re slowly going away, as I interact with nice people. I just HATE rude, selfish, mean people, and I hung out with one on Friday and dealt with another one on Sunday just as I was getting over the one from Friday. Makes me want to quit everything and be a hermit… Fortunately there’s still nice people around. :-)Regarding food, my husband got a Big Green Egg on Saturday and he made some ribs yesterday. Yummy!!! It was a lot of work, but they were delicious! Anyone else use an Egg here? We don’t make many desserts in my house (because I’d end up eating them all), but I do like some tasty meat dishes. Other than chocolate, I think I have a savory tooth… :-)Hello to everyone else yet to come! I’ll call you by name tomorrow… I think this post will be long enough! Have a good Monday!

Okay lightenup you get dibs on the jumbo cupcake. We’ll settle for any leftovers :-D
My cure for mean and rude? Hold your hand up and say “Stop!” Walk away. The end.

Speaking of ice cream (we were, right?) I forgot to answer scrabblefiend’s question yesterday — sorry sorry. Here in very rural NH we don’t have megamarts, so we can only find plain and Heath Klondike ice cream bars. When I get back to DC, we’ll check to see if they have Klondike Rocky Road.

If this “ex-boyfriend who once proposed” to Cathy was all that special, then why didn’t she marry him?!? There’s a reason why he’s her “ex” and apparently has been for quite some time . . . so why cry over him getting married to someone else? Granted, it’s bizarre that he would send her a wedding invitation but if she was the one who dumped him (because we ALL know how picky and critical Cathy is regarding men!), then it may be his way of saying: “Hey! I’ve moved on! No hard feelings! Come celebrate with us!” OR . . . he invited her to his wedding just so that he can rub it in that’s he’s now getting married and she’s still pathetically single!
Welcome Rachel / ncalifgirl58! Glad you’re coming out of the “shadowy world of the lurkers” and have decided to join us on a more regular basis!!! While I don’t read anything on Go Comics but “Cathy”, “Calvin & Hobbes”, “Pluggers” and “For Better Or For Worse”, I can’t imagine there being a better group than ours anywhere else out there!!!!! Our little “family” here is just so sweet, friendly and respectful towards each other that I can’t wait to come here everyday! And when I can’t be here (like on Sunday’s when we spend the day with my mom), I really miss all my “friends” and look forward to Monday rolling around when I know I’ll be back to “see” them all again. Glad you’re now one of them! ;-)
Aaron: Got anymore of those jumbo cupcakes to take care of my case of the grumpies today?!? Granted, it’s not as bad (today) as it was yesterday but I’m in nowhere near as good a mood as I normally am . . . even for a Monday! [sigh]
Good afternoon, lightenup, lightenupjr., Dr. K.F.G., Susan, lindz.coop, rgcviper, gmforde, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, hendelca, Gator007, legaleagle48, mollie05, AnonaMona, catsarge10, millie p, soonergal, Bronzepony, Molly mcgee, simpsonfan2, Shyygirl27, Violet Bay, BJIllistrated, ncalifgirl58, FinnyGirl and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here today. As always, it’s really great to “see” you all and if you’re new here . . . WELCOME TO CATHY’S NUTHOUSE!!!!! GLAD YOU’RE JOINING IN ON ALL THE FUN!!!!! ;-)

My wife’s Chatelaine published a breakfast to die for! Blueberry bacon cake made with maple syrup. Talk about all the good flavours. Gretchensmom and lightenup just might feel better after trying this:

Oh, I think LMB would make anybody feel better. He’s much prettier than the moon.
Easier to reach for a cuddle, too.

@ Aaron – Thank you for the YUMMY cupcake!! I’ll share it with GsMom… er, that is if *AnonaMona*’s enthusiasm didn’t squash it. I’m sure it’ll be fine… {_grin_}You all are sooo sweet!! I’m feeling better today, thanks to my nice Cathy friends!HUGS to my friend, GretchensMom!!!! Sounds like you’re feeling as fed up as I was with people, and it sounds like your cousin could use a BIG lesson in manners. At the least, she owes several of you an apology. Seriously!! What is wrong with people?? As I’ve always said, there should be a land where only nice, considerate people are allowed to live, and all the mean, rude ones can be nasty to other mean, rude people. For now, we have it here in Cathy’s Corner, but it would be nice if it was in real life too.Without going into too many details, my story is similar-ish (yes, that’s a word). I went out with 3 friends on Friday, and one of them said all sorts of things about my age. I’m about your age, GsMom – not old! but since she is 7 years younger than me, she kept talking about it. She tried to make it sound nice, like “you look so good (for your age)!”, etc, but she had a smug look on her face which was annoying and she kept talking about it to the point where it was very insincere. Meanwhile I think I look and act younger than she is, but if I said anything it would have seemed like sour grapes. I totally believe that age is a number and how you act is really how old you seem. She dominated the rest of the get-together with her talking. Everytime I tried to say something, she wouldn’t let me finish, literally talking right over me. Then we got into somewhat of a disagreement about kids and TV. I personally watch very little TV, usually a movie once a week with my husband. And I think it’s a waste for kids to watch, so my kids don’t watch either (except when we’re on vacation as a treat). So this woman proceeded to explain to me why she lets her kids watch TV, strongly implying that I was doing the wrong thing with my kids. Meanwhile, I never even said a thing about my opinions on it and I’ve never pushed our way on anyone else. I believe that everyone raises their kids differently, and while I have my opinions, I never voice them unless the subject comes up and I’m very NON-judgemental. So that pushed me over the edge because I felt very defensive about something that I never got a chance to voice my side about and she basically said that my kids would be left out of other kids’ conversations or groups because my kids don’t know about the TV shows that other kids watch. WTH…So I fumed about that most of Saturday. And every time, I started to calm down, I got riled up again remembering my mother implying on Thursday that I’m the reason that my sister and I don’t get along. Another WTH.At the same time, I was trying to coordinate a camping trip for Jr’s Girl Scout troop, which I’m a leader of, which was frustrating me further. After all of that, I’m at least calmer about that woman and my mom (not much to do about my mom anyway). Still dealing with the craziness of trying to get a zillion things done though….I’m sorry for the extra long post! I hope there’s space left for our late night posters…. :-)And of course a HUG from me to you, GretchensMom! I hope you’re feeling a bit better! Unfortunately, I can’t give you much advice because I have a lot of rude people in my family that I tolerate a lot and resent, but am not sure what else to do…. :-\

“Impressive”? Um … OK. If you say so.
“Fitting for this nut-job family”? NOW you’re speaking the right language.

I’m glad to hear you found something to give you a little smile! We aim to please. But don’t worry about the age thing. Since I hit sixty I’ve been getting younger every day.
