Mom: Even though Alex was too young for you I supported you dating him...even though he was so sweet, I supported you dumping him...I supported your clarity...Supported your remorse...Supported all the little dating dead ends you've traveled down since......And now that he's engaged to someone else, you can lean back and know I'll support however it is you decide you feel about it. I'm a rock, but first, I'm a really good chair. Cathy: Oof.

Nah, too easy. I don’t like being cruel any more than I have to.
Morning arrived Susan. Morning lightenup You weren’t here when I checked in before. Slept in just a little on Saturday?
Happy Saturday MOM!My internal alarm didn’t have time to wake me up because my external alarm stood on my chest as usual at 7:00. He didn’t have to go out because we were already out. He and I will be adjusting to city life again in a few days.

Aaron and Dr. Billy: how lovely to be sleeping under the stars! Down South we are watching the progress of Hurricane Isaac with some trepidation. Greetings, Cathy clan!

I for one have missed hour-long Sunday morning phone calls to my mother since she passed. I moved away after 1 yr of marriage to the U.S. and our phone calls kept me happily connected to my family life back home. GOD BLESS ALL MOTHERS!!

It wouldn’t work in our family. I’m about three inches taller than Mum, my daughter is two inches taller than me – and my grandson is about six foot two and still growing!
We’d need a much bigger chair.

What are moms for, huh?
The eye-roll streak continues. Pretty incredible, ain’t it?

Now let me see if I’ve got this straight . . . Monday: Cathy was upset to get an invitation to Alex’s wedding.Tuesday: Mom, sad. Cathy’s not because she had dumped him.Wednesday: Angst over the “Elegant Outdoorsy” dress request.Thursday: Even more angst over the “Guest” option. Saturday: Back to being upset that Alex is getting married.Whew! I’ve got a major case of whiplash!!! Wonder if the Chiropractor my dad used to go to several years ago is still in business?!?!? Because I think I’m desperately in need of his services right now!!!!!
Glad you’re getting to spend some much-needed time together! Aaron: when do you head back home — and to work? Was it starting Labor Day weekend? If so, that’s just around the corner! I know you’re anxious for life to return to normal but if you’re still not ready, then DON’T do it! Don’t risk re-injuring your hip before it’s completely healed or you’re going to be right back where you started and that’s just not worth taking a chance on!!!
lightenup & ncalifgirl58: My trick to “remembering” everyone I say “Hi!” to everyday (not that anyone asked): I always check back to the day before to see who wrote what after my comment. When I scroll down the list and get to mine, I just do a copy of all my “friends” then, when I’m done reading and I head over to the present day’s comic, I paste all that info into the new comment box (I just have to remember to bold all the names because that part of the whole copy & paste method doesn’t transfer along with it). Just as easy as that! ;-)
Good evening and Happy Saturday, lightenup, lightenupjr., Dr. K.F.G., Susan, lindz.coop, rgcviper, gmforde, serenasakitty, kittycatpawsare, hendelca, Gator007, legaleagle48, mollie05, AnonaMona, catsarge10, millie p, soonergal, Bronzepony, Molly mcgee, simpsonfan2, Shyygirl27, Violet Bay, AndiJ, BJIllistrated, ncalifgirl58, summerdog, ruizuno1, FinnyGirl and all the REST of the “Cathy” fanatics joining us here tonight. As always, it’s really great to “see” you all and if you’re new here . . . WELCOME TO CATHY’S NUTHOUSE!!!!! GLAD YOU’RE JOINING IN ON ALL THE FUN!!!!! ;-)

Hi Cathyites!! Back from Norway and finally (almost) catching up on all the comics. I saw the fiasco “date” with Charlene & Simon and rolled my eyes. Now Cathy is obsessing over Alex — calling for new eyeroll!! But sitting in Mom’s lap takes the cake. How many of us could do that at 30 something?
Thanx for all the well-wishes from those who noted I was leaving. We had a great trip, but now have “kennel-cough” from all the sneezing, wheezing, coughing, hacking fellow passengers on the plane (both ways) and on the ship. For Pete’s sake, it’s August — why is everybody sick?? I was very lucky in that it didn’t hit me until I got home. I was very unlucky in that I also had to start a whole regimen of rabies vaccines upon arrival because a bat flew at me in the bathroom a couple of days before we left. I didn’t get bitten and we did catch the bat but the health dept wasn’t satisfied and insisted — calling me all over Europe to get shots. The bat was “untestable” because of the little known fact that you are supposed to keep it cold (as in your refrigerator — yuck much?!?) until it can be tested. So now I’m living in the ER (where they have to do your vitals and you have to wait for hours every time you come in — no matter that it is just for one little poke). The only other place to get the vaccine is at the health dept and they are not open on some of the dates they have decided I need the vaccine. One ER told me that if I came to them, I would have to start all over again — no way!!!
Anyway, favorite place on the whole trip — quite by surprise — was Amsterdam — the place we just thought we were flying into to catch the cruise ship. It’s a beautiful city, clean, simple to navigate, great transportation everywhere, great food, lots of interesting places — especially the Anne Frank House.
Glad to see you’re back together Billy & Aaron — the summer’s been a long one for you guys!!

Hi to all the cathy nuts out there today hope everyone has a great weekend. Who ever said Aaron has no sense of humor or imagination don’t know him. His funny and makes you laugh and cares about everyone.

I was a long-time Lurker who joined because of the people who visit Cathy’s Corner each day. I wouldn’t have joined up just to read the comics; I can do that anyway. Now I read, comment sometimes, and sympathise with other members who are ill or have problems.
Why? Because, on the whole, Cathy’s crowd are friendly, likeable, caring people, and I have come to care about them. I don’t think that makes me a bad person.
I read other comics and don’t often comment because although the comic amuses me, the comments just annoy me or bore me. Does that make them better comics than Cathy’s here? I doubt it.

This is the site we all find very refreshing because of the lack of animosity — both among commenters and toward the comic (particularly the artist). I rarely post anywhere else anymore, but post on Cathy almost everyday because it is so comfortable. Basically, we don’t tell others they are posting “wrong” unless there is a personal attack — and that’s what makes it special for us. I hope we can continue to keep the site comfortable.
