In the mid 70’s, I managed a restaurant. We had many regular customers. But, one stands out in my memory. He came in every morning, sat at the same spot at the counter, ordered the same thing from the same waitress (except on her days off). He parked his car, as near as he could, in the same spot. So, the minute he was seen parking, his order went to the cook. He didn’t have to wait for his breakfast! Sometimes it was in front of him when he sat down! It was a little thing, but he felt special and we enjoyed doing it.

They know as long as you’re alive they’ll never have to worry about losing their jobs. You’re their job security.

The thing I like best about jelly donuts is they are so full-filling.

I thought only policemen got standing ovations at donut shops.

There are probably others who also get a standing ovation. Ralph just doesn’t know them. (They probably come at a different time than he does.)

At least on ‘Cheers’, Norm was greeted by name.

The standing ovation is because now the shop can make payroll
