Ending affirmative action before we’re anywhere near to having eliminated systemic racism from society. What could go wrong? /s

Lisa Benson needs to check out the full story behind what she posts so she can stop embarrassing herself with her lack of understanding of history or reality since the uneducated cartoonist opted out of college deciding it wasn’t for her. Apparently, being “self-taught” was not as successful as she imagines in her dreams.

Yes, California outlawed Affirmative Action based on the inclusion of racial considerations in 1996. That fact is true. So now, Lisa, tell the rest of the story…

This was done in 1996 by REPUBLICAN governor Pete Wilson and a REPUBLICAN legislature, back when California was a reliably RED state that gave us Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan and in the 100 previous years before Jerry Brown’s second two-term administration had only elected two Democratic governors not named Brown, one of whom was booted out after a single term and the other of which got recalled and replaced by Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger.

And how did that work out? Minority enrollments at state colleges and universities plummeted after Affirmative Action was gutted.

And how did it work out for Republicans? Pete Wilson’s war on minorities had the distinct effect of waking up the sleeping giant of the Latino voters, which had been among the lowest in percentage of turnout at election but, after his anti-immigrant and anti-Latino and “English Only” racist initiatives (that were thrown out by the courts), Latinos started voting. Today they are the highest in voter turnout and transformed this state from a reliable red state into the bluest state in the union. No Republican has won any statewide office in California since 2010.

Give people a chance at a piece of the pie and the pie becomes bigger. Nobody loses.

This is still a racially divided country where you are immediately judged by your appearance, despite what Chief Justice Roberts thinks. As a white man, my father never had to have the “talk” with me about what to do if the police pulled me over. When I used to jog, I never worried about running through a new neighborhood where people didn’t know me, that it might be dangerous for me because of my race.

Furthermore, schooling is not equal across the country. Too many school districts, often in Black and Latino areas, lack the resources to prepare their students for the challenges of top-flight colleges. When you don’t acknowledge that, the prospective student suffers. The minority student from a school where he/she was not offered a chance to take AP Calculus is at a disadvantage when applying to college compared to the white student from a rich monochromatic high school. Taking this into account during the application process is both just and correct.

I don’t believe Justice Roberts is a racist. I think he is sincere when he wants a color-blind system where everyone is judged by what they bring to the table. However, our country does not work that way. And until it does, Affirmative Action in college admissions is needed.

I want to thank the Supreme Court for creating more Democrat voters by their recent decisions. Very effective!

Nine states including California, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Michigan, and New Hampshire already banned race-conscious admissions. Now the 41 other states can wake-up and do the same.

Hopefully this will help incentivize public school teachers unions to strive harder to bring students up to national achievement levels so those students who wish to attend a college or university are properly prepared for the rigors and challenges of higher education.

Let’s not lower the standards of our universities but instead raise the achievements in secondary schools.

Newscum is just waiting for Biden to fall one more time to jump in the race. As my Gov. he has spent far more time positioning himself as option #1, while not ruffling Commalas feathers. How can the DNC get out of this Biden/Harris mess in 2024 without hurting their black/women base? Tricky Dick and Agnew wrote the script in 73.

It’s been a really good week for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Republic.

The SCOTUS has ruled against racism, protected freedom of religion, and struck down over-reaching Executive Branch actions all in the same week.
