As a kid, I was not a fan of those Hostess ads. I think, “Hey, it’s a Superman mini-comic! No wait, it’s a darn ad for fruit pies.” Now, it’s all a wash of nostalgia.
And GOD-MAN said “Of every variety of Tay-Stee® Fruit Pie may ye freely eat, but eat not the fruit pies of other brands, for then ye shall surely die.”
When I worked (briefly) in a downtown liquor store, we called these “crack pies.” A cheap, quick sugar rush, and addictive. They were very popular with people coming home from the bars.

A super-hero’s most effective weapon is always a Tay-Stee fruit pie! No villain can resist them!

Hostess sues God-Man, but somehow they all turn into Dolley Madison. James Madison approves and has a six way! (There were a lotta lawyers.)

Should be Tay-Stee fruit flavored syrup pie. I haven’t had them in while.

Are those fruit pies still a thing?

Before the Hostess fruit pie ads of the 1970s, DC Comics ran “public service announcements” in the 50s and 60s. These covered a variety of issues.
