When my husband’s older niece was little we would get to watch her some afternoons while her mother did more important things – like go to the gym. SIL is sort of crazy and has odd ideas – and had a house where things were breakable and had to be order.
So when we had niece we went the opposite way with few rules. Sometimes she would start to do something like scratch the wall, stop, look around, look at us (not saying a word about it), look as if she just realized where she was and quickly move her hand away from the wall.
We would take her to the park and let her run around – put her on the swings – husband climbed up and showed and her how to go down the slide, etc.

Well, at least you got out of the house and perhaps one of you is enjoying the fresh air and the birds.

And Michael’s still strapped in – else he’d be running around screaming “Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
