For the longest time the customary tip for good service at a full-service restaurant was 15%. Now, I’m being prompted tip someone who handed me a bag of food across the counter. I feel like this trend is an offshoot of the entitlement mentality by many in the United States.
Last time I was overseas, I discovered tipping was not expected even at a full-service restaurant. Does anyone have any recent experience in Europe and beyond?
So, I may have accidentally deleted my own comment. I don’t know, and I am away from my notes, thus, I will paraphrase my previous post.. In a September 2021 podcast, and for those of you, who are not aware, if you look RIGHT below the comments here, you will see an advertisement for the Scott Stantis/Ted Rall podcast, of which I have listened to every piece. In one of his earliest releases, Stanti dropped the P word to describe the United Nations’ powder blue helmets, as in they were a “P” color. My comment on the matter is that I am willing to give a bit of leverage on private conversations, I would suggest we all probably need that grace. I assert that a podcast is not a private conversation, and this comment reflects the Beavis and Butthead nature of this duo. ……………………….They REALLY just can’t be ultimately taken seriously………………….and if you follow my comments on this toon, the sad part is that Stantis and Rall have the talent to merit serious thought, just not the fortitude for them to produce material to garner said respect.
I was meeting a friend at a local coffee chop where you now place your order and pay for your purchase on a touch screen. You then get in a line to be given an empty cup which you fill at the appropriate coffee urn. The screen prompted me to include a tip on my purchase and there was a separate tip-jar on the counter where you received your cup to serve yourself. I couldn’t help but wonder what is the appropriate percentage to tip when you serve yourself?

Wear sunscreen, especially on the southwest which I’m quite certain is being transformed into the deepest part of Hell.
