Recently, my Newark to O’Hare flight was cancelled. I HAD to get there and wound up driving. Co-workers on a flight the next day (delayed over 12 hours) picked up my luggage which had been there from the flight before my scheduled one.
Reminds me of when Delta got my luggage on the flight from Salt Lake City to Boise but left the gate without us. Agent explained they got a bonus for on-time departures from the gate. Last flight of the day. Wonderful.
Long ago when I was in the Army, I was returning from leave and flying standby from Chicago to San Francisco. I checked my bag and then got bumped to a flight a couple hours later and on a different airline. When I landed, I went to the baggage carousel for the flight I missed, and there was my bag, all by itself and still going in circles, waiting for me to claim it.
Years ago when NorthWest Orient was a thing, while a bunch of us were waiting in line for our lost luggage, one fellow yelled out “Now I know why they call it NorthWest Orient…they send you to the northwest and your bags to the orient!” We all needed that to lighten the moment!

On my previous vacation, I programmed my luggage to take photos of it’s surroundings. Then send the photos back via “instapic”. Cool, huh?

The image is different, but the dialogue is identical to that in the comic from 30 May, 2016.
