In a public ābothā bathroom, I think the seat should be left UP. Guys will be certain they can hit the water without hitting the seat andā¦ they canāt.
Heās got a point. Not a good one, but a point. I agree the seat and lid should be put down before the flushing, but thereās no need to announce to a room of people that someone left them up, just put them downā¦
Nothing worse than hitting the cold porcelain butt first in the middle of the night. Men need that experience to appreciate the need for a toilet seat in the down position.
I gather this thing about the toilet seat is a big deal among women, though (like Lennieās friend) I canāt see what difference it could possibly make.
Personally, I put the seat and lid down all the time. But, in this day and age, where women want to be treated like men, then yes, I can see where the man has a point: deal with the seat yourself.
1. The seat needs to be down when both sexes defecate, and when women urinate. It needs to be up only when men urinate. And men urinate less often than women, because their bladders are larger (womenās uteruses take up space). 2. Bacteria are sprayed around the room when the toilet is flushed with the lid up. 3. If the lid is up, things like phones may be dropped in the water. All excellent reasons why THE SEAT SHOULD BE LEFT DOWN.

If you donāt put the seat down, you canāt close the lid. If you donāt close the lid, you get aerosol plumes of toilet water.
Most people I think donāt want that.

We always put the lid down on the toilet before we flush. Who wants the contents of a toilet aerosolized into the air?

Early in the strip? 2002. A more kittenish Ginger in panel four. The ātude is apparent in the last one.
