It’s a good thing he’s not there, he’s supposed to be in his office.

He’s lucky he didn’t try an actual trek there. Earlier notice said road damage too great to repair before summer ends. Virtual is the only way to go. Good twist by Mallett.

Rae Lakes are beautiful. I hiked there with the Scouts… wow. 50 years ago this month. I’m now at the age I’m realizing I won’t be back.

I for one have enjoyed this arc all summer of Mr. Spatzel hiking , even if it is virtual. The point is, he got up and did something! Yay for him! Who knows? Could be the start of more good things. Thanks Jef.

I wonder how much in advance this story arc had been created. It might not have been intended as a rap on the situation along the places of that specific locations.

A few summers ago I tried to walk around the Okanagan lake every day for 3 weeks while I was visiting in Kelowna

50 years ago I backpacked with my Scout Troop past Rae Lakes! You’re getting close to the end! But Forrester Pass is a challenge. Then guitars Lake, Trail Crest, and Whitney awaits

Rae Lakes is a lovely spot on the JMT. And Mr. Mallett got it right. That sharp peak over the lakes in panel two is Fin Dome, that looms over the lakes. Great camping but crowded with JMT through hikers and those coming over Kearsarge Pass for a week long loop.
