The ‘golden age’, the only thing golden about it is the urine!

Sometimes that can get you in to trouble. Such as when the grandkids want you to play football with them. The mind goes “Sure, It’ll be fun.” The body goes “Oh hell no. You’ll be sorry.” Turns out the body is wise and the mind is stupid.

It’s not the looks that concern me, it’s the health.

A young woman has a certain sense of power from looking beautiful. It is hard when we age and loose that fresh look, until we get old enough to be considered cute. The transformation from one to another can be humbling.

I’m in my late 60s and thanks to good genes I look 20 years younger, life is good except for the aches and pains of when I was young and thought I was indestructible. C’est la vie!!!

When you’re dead you look your oldest, but, as I understand, you don’t feel old … or anything.

Except for the gray hair, I don’t look old at all at 64. But I’m also a health and fitness buff. I try to go the gym twice a week, and I have a nice road bike that I put some good miles on, and a mountain bike for when I’m really feeling it. Plus, my diet is excellent. No junk food at all! And if you feel that way Ms. Lucy, Planet Fitness is only $24/month. ;) Lots of older folks are becoming more health conscious and are making great efforts to reinvent themselves. Me, included.

I don’t look my age either – pushing 70 and hair is still about 98% original color – just strands of silver mixed in. I weigh 10 lbs less than when I was in high school and about 1/3 less than when we got married – though still overweight.

Before Covid I used to get exercise daily (unless rain or snow) by parking the car in the lot of the town park adjacent to the post office and the walking to the PO to pick up the mail in our box and then back again, as well as the constant up and down the stairs – but could easily 10 miles in a day (and did so generally when on summer vacation). Now, we have the mail delivered to our house – because did not want to go in same to pick up mail during the worst of Covid and I cannot not deal with changing all the addresses back again – so only go to the PO once a week to post outgoing mail – but still walk from the park to the PO and back to do so.

Also husband loves to go to shopping malls or parks and walk around so we did that before Covid. Since Covid in nice weather while it is still during the school year we will go to one or the other of 2 parks and walk around (less people around then) and more recently have been going to a shopping mall which has very low shopping traffic and walking around there as well as the parks.
