    Despite the cartoon showing a brown bear. It must’ve been a black bear. A brown bear wouldn’t have put up with that. The walking stick would ended up being used as a toothpick by the bear.

    A lady up here tried to save her dog from a bear, the dog survived, she didn’t.

    There is a video of a bear followed by two cubs on a block wall separating two yards. When the dogs threatened the bear, the bear threatened them back. To protect the dogs, a 17 year old girl pushes the bear.

    “Black bears” are both black and brown. But in the US we typically reserve the term “Brown bear” for Grizzly. There are no Grizzlies in the lower 48 states (including North Carolina), but they are abundant in Alaska. So I assume the drawing was indeed a black bear, but one of the brown-colored ones.
