Thanks to an earlier comment I looked it up. “Silly Point” – “A fielding position, on the off side, square of the batsman’s wicket, and very near the batsman; a fielder in this position.”
You know, now that I “get it” (a dangerously posterior position to assume – keeping in the current spirit of joke telling), it ain’t funny, Horace.
