For a while it seemed like they were trying to monopolize the Internet. Fortunately that was an impossible task for anyone, especially a company that sold really awful software. It seemed like after a while all that they could manage was to force everyone to use their operating system whenever they bought a computer.
I recall some TV movie about Jobs and Wozniak where Jobs (as a charcter in the movie) says, “But Bill, our stuff is better.” and Gates (as a character in the movie replies, “Steve, nobody cares about that.”
Had some experience with Microsoft in the early days where they didn’t bother putting on the velvet gloves. Steve Ballmer, the Enforcer, held yearly cxonferences where they outlined apps it was OK for smaller software companies to make. Threatened to squash anyone who trespassed on other territory. Didn’t even hide it; thought they were immune from government lawsuits. I have maintained my disgust for them ever since and never ever buy anything from them. .

This guy is grating. Mike needs to move on and talk with someone else but keep “M.S.” in his rearview mirror!

Passive/Aggressive with the emphasis on takeovers and lawsuits. Companies like Microsoft have lawyers unto the third generation.

Yup, that’s how Microsoft serves its customers.
