I remember when I was in 1st grade I would sometimes walk the entire way to school backwards. The crossing guard – a lovely older woman – would verbally guide me where I crossed (the crossing area was “L” shaped). To this day I’m still pretty good at walking backwards without bumping into things.

I enjoyed learning, still do. But I was never that enthusiastic about going to school.
